Primo by Trussardi is an Aromatic Fougère fragrance for men, launched in 2024. Created by perfumer Violaine Collas, Primo is a bold and unconventional composition inspired by the raw power of a volcanic landscape—incandescent lava, dark minerals, scorched earth, sea air, and the first light of a new dawn.

The fragrance opens with one of its most distinctive elements: a rich maple syrup accord. Warm, golden, and addictive, its sweetness is contrasted by a dark lava accord and cool mineral notes. Grapefruit cuts through the warmth with a fresh citrus sharpness, creating an unusual balance between heat and freshness.

As Primo develops, tonka bean reinforces the smooth, warm sweetness while pimento introduces a peppery heat inspired by the danger and intensity of an active volcano. Bourbon geranium provides the aromatic green character expected from a fougère, giving structure and freshness to the darker mineral elements.

The base becomes increasingly woody and earthy. Creamy sandalwood softens the composition, while patchouli provides a darker, earthier quality. Cedarwood adds dryness and structure, leaving behind a warm, masculine trail with woody, mineral, sweet, and slightly smoky nuances.

Primo isn't built like a traditional fresh fougère. Its contrast of golden maple sweetness, volcanic minerals, peppery warmth, aromatic geranium, and dark woods gives it a distinctive personality that feels warm, powerful, and modern.
